Friar
From ThreadsOfTime
Wandering friars are a common sight in the towns and villages of the Europe, and are appearing with increasing frequency. Where the clergy have slipped in their duty to preach, Dominican friars often step into the breach in preaching the Gospel, many giving their sermons in the local tongue rather than in Latin, while Franciscan friars set the spiritual example of living a life of poverty. The
Dominicans appeared in the early 1200s. The Franciscans arrived less then half a decade later, rapidly establishing a presence in major cities, the seats of religion, royalty and learning, and have been growing ever since. The order have just gained a foothold in Hungary's capital.
Inquisitors of the Red Order often pose as friars as part of their investigations.
